LAVELAA began with a name.
Guille’s last name, Vela, means candle in Spanish - the spark that ignited it all.
Founded on September 23, 2023 in Denver, Colorado, LAVELAA is the creative collaboration of Guille and Michael, two Texans who now call Colorado home. Shadow and Moon, our dogs (and quality control team), were both born and raised in the Rockies.
What started as a love for scent and craft became something deeper:
a way to reconnect with Mexican culture, celebrate nature, and share beauty in everyday rituals.
Our signature floral and succulent designs are rooted in the colors and textures of Mexican art and the earth itself. Each candle is hand-poured and adorned with botanical wax patterns, using natural coconut and soy wax blends — always paraffin-free and pet-safe.
We craft with intention.
Our products use clean-burning wax, high-quality fragrance and essential oils, and no fillers - because what surrounds you should feel good and be good.
In early 2024, we expanded our line to include Aceite Olivo (Olive Oil) soap bars - each one made with a nourishing olive oil base, essential oils, and finely ground Earthy ingredients like herbs, clays, and minerals.
Soon after, we launched our Perfumería - a collection of natural, bold perfumes designed for wherever life takes you. These pocket-sized spritzes and classic eau de parfums reflect our deepest scent stories: herbal, fruity, earthy, and sacred. They’re made to linger, to travel, and to feel like home.
When we’re not pouring candles or soaps, we’re probably on a road trip, at a music festival, or dancing in the kitchen.
Guille is also a college counselor. Michael is a chef. And together, we’re building something that feels like home.
